The Milwaukee Bucks’ Brandon Jennings and the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki \were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 15.
Jennings led the Bucks to a 2-0 week, averaging 43.5 points on .604 shooting from the field, 4.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists. On Nov. 14, Jennings broke Milwaukee’s rookie scoring record with 55 points (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 51), the highest point total by an NBA rookie since 1968 (Earl Monroe, 56), in a 129-125 win over Golden State. His 45 second-half points are the most by an NBA player since Kobe Bryant had 55 on Jan. 22, 2006 against Toronto. Jennings leads all rookies in points (25.6 ppg), assists (5.1 apg), three-point field goal percentage (.567) and minutes (33.9 mpg).
Nowitzki averaged 24.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks, leading the Mavericks to a 3-1 week, including two road wins. The 7-0 forward led Dallas in scoring on three occasions, including a 29-point, 12-rebound performance on Nov. 11 at San Antonio. Nowitzki went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line on consecutive nights (Nov. 10 vs. Houston, Nov. 11 at San Antonio).
